Program Overview

Proposed Amendments to the Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws Discussion
The primary purpose of Convention is to conduct Sorority business. Leadership Development is Self-Development
Have you ever thought about leadership development as self-development? Attendees will take a leadership self-assessment based on The Leadership Challenge developed by leadership experts Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner to help identify your strengths and develop strategies for leveraging those strengths when working with others.

REAL Relationships
Strong relationships are critical to the success of any leader. A strong network of trusted friends, advisors and mentors is critical to leading an organization. This session will allow you to further explore how Gamma Phi Beta’s purpose helps you lead while connecting with other chapter presidents, advisors and volunteers.

Gamma Phi Beta’s Advising Philosophy: Reframing Chapter Advising (Advisors)
Gamma Phi Beta is embarking on a new era of supporting chapter advisors in innovative, relevant and engaging ways, thus, revolutionizing the way chapter advisors support collegiate women. During this session, you will learn about Gamma Phi Beta’s new advising philosophy, what it means for the way you advise the chapter and how to implement it into your everyday advising.

Keynote Speaker – Kristen Hadeed
Taking you on a journey through her hilarious stories as a 19-year-old business owner, Kristen will change the way you think about and define leadership in your chapter, council and community. She will challenge you to take your organization to the next level. If Kristen can go from being the worst example of a leader to where she is now, she knows anything is possible.

Keynote Workshop – Kristen Hadeed
Following her keynote address Kristen will lead chapter presidents and advisors through a workshop that will change everything you know about the relationship you have with your sisters.

Leadership Self-Care
To take care of others, you must first take care of yourself. As a leader, it can be easy to prioritize the group’s needs over your own. This session will help you recognize distress signals and implement strategies to help you take care of yourself.

Courageous Conversations
One of the most important skills for any leader is the ability to have courageous conversation with others. This session will explore the skills, tactics and ways to create an open environment for giving and receiving feedback.

Tapping into Your Tendency
How do you react to expectations from others? How about expectations you place on yourself? Harness your personal power by discovering your habits tendency through a short assessment and a few interactive exercises to create habits for a healthy, productive and happy year!

Chapter President 101
Transitioning to the role of chapter president can be overwhelming. This program will guide you through your transition by helping you to understand how to be an effective president, manage your constituents and prevent burnout.

Coaching Generation Z: Promoting Development in Today’s Collegians
As the Sorority’s primary collegiate-facing volunteers, chapter advisors play huge roles in the lives of Gamma Phi Beta’s collegiate women. Since millennials are no longer the students we work with, join us in this session to learn about the current generation of college students and how you can help them develop into the best possible versions of themselves. You will have the opportunity to think critically about the work you do as an advisor within the context of the current generation of students.

Advisory Boards: A Blessing not a Burden
Thriving advisory boards have a profound positive effect on chapter success. Join us in this discussion-based session to learn how to recruit the right women, capitalize on the strengths of your current advisory board, build a productive, effective team of advisors and retain and recognize women for the work they do as advisory board members. You will have the opportunity to get your questions answered by others who share similar experiences as we work together to build the best advisory boards.

Emotional Correctness
Celebrating and valuing differences creates a strong foundation in any community. Based on Sally Kohn’s TEDx Talk, this session will explore ways to seek to understand and celebrate those who are different from you.

Creating Change
Does your chapter need to change its culture, values or operations? This program is designed to help you see change not as a challenge, but as an opportunity. Gain the skills you need to encourage your chapter to be the best it can be!

Taking It Home
You have the ability to leave a lasting legacy at your chapter. Use this session to pull everything you learned this weekend together to create a plan of action that will successfully guide you through the year as chapter president or advisor.
